RUSMP is proud to announce the formation of the Math Circle at Rice University. Mathematical Circles are a form of educational enrichment that bring mathematicians and mathematical scientists into direct contact with pre-college students. These students, and sometimes their teachers, meet with mathematical professionals in an informal setting, after school or on weekends, to work on interesting problems or topics in mathematics. The Rice Math Circle is for Houston area High School and Middle School students who find that the regular math curriculum is not challenging enough. To get the most out of the meetings, students should have mastered algebra and know basic geometry but calculus is not required. The first meeting of Math Circles at Rice University will be Sunday September 16, 2012 on the Rice University Campus in Herman Brown Hall Room 227. For more information and pre-registration information please visit the Math Circle at Rice University website: http://math.rice.edu/MathCircle/index.html.
