Video Spotlight of the 2016 Montgomery Elementary Math Symposium
Carolyn White, RUSMP Director of Elementary Programs, recently facilitated a mathematics symposium for 5th-grade students at Montgomery Elementary School. The focus was on algebraic reasoning and critical thinking. Students warmed up with KenKen puzzles, then played "Salute" and crowned a King and Queen of fifth grade. Students acted out the "Birthday Problem" and modeled with color tiles.
Excitement and critical thinking ruled the day! You can watch the short video of Montgomery students, teachers, administrators and Coach Carolyn here.
Montgomery Elementary principal, Dr. Faye McNeil, was a strong presence during the symposium and is a member of the RUSMP Advisory Board.
