RUSMP researchers participate in the NSF-funded workshop organized by the Mathematics Teaching and Learning to Teach Project
RUSMP researchers, Danya Corkin and Adem Ekmekci, were invited to and participated in the "Specialized Content Knowledge Institute: Developing Tasks for Teaching and Assessing Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching." It was an NSF-funded workshop (November 10-13, 2016) organized by Mathematics Teaching and Learning to Teach (MTLT) Project at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Renowned math education and teacher education researchers, Deborah Ball, Mark Hoover, and Hayman Bass lead the institute. It was a cross-community collaboration including K-12 mathematics teachers, professional development specialists, mathematics and mathematics education professors, and researchers across the country.
Participants learned about Specialized Content Knowledge (SCK) items, developed SCK items, and reviewed them. More information about the project is available at http://sites.soe.umich.edu/mkt/.
