  • RUSMP announces February 2010 Short Courses

    RUSMP will be offering three of its most popular short courses on Thursdays during the month of February. All classes will meet at The Rice School from 5:00 - 7:30 pm. For more information and to register, use the links below.

  • Registration for the 2010 RUSMP Summer Campus Program is now available!

    Please join us for the 2010 RUSMP Summer Campus Program to be held at Pin Oak Middle School, Mondays-Thursdays, June 7- July 1. Geometry, Measurement, and Data Analysis, Probability, and Statistics will be the focus concepts for this summer's program.

  • Richard Parr presents at T3 Regional in Stephenville

    RUSMP Associate Director for Curricular and Instructional Programs made two presentations at the Teachers Teaching with Technology Regional Conference at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas on November 7, 2009.  Using Technology to Make Connections in Algebra  featured the use of the TI-Nspire in the Algebra I classroom, while  Using Parametric Representation to Make Connections incorporated the use of the TI-84 family of calculators.

  • Dr. Robin Ward presents at Pearson Education Event

    RUSMP Associate Director for Curriculum Integration Robin Ward presented at a Pearson Education Event on Thursday, October 9, 2009 in Houston, TX. In her presentation entitled, Integrating Mathematics and Science and Other Content Areas in K-12 with a Focus on Children’s Literature and the Visual Arts”, Robin shared rich literature-based activities that emphasize curriculum integration. Robin has authored a three-book series for Allyn & Bacon/Longman/Pearson entitled, Literature-Based Activities Integrating Mathematics with Other Content Areas, (Grades K-2), (Grades 3-5), (Grades 6-8).

  • Burrus Elementary Students visit Rice

    On October 6, 2009,  fifth-grade students from HISD's Burrus Elementary were hosted on the Rice University campus by RUSMP and the Rice Athletics Department. Following a mathematical tour of the Rice campus led by RUSMP Directors, the students enjoyed lunch in the "R" Room at Rice Stadium where they visited with Rice head football coach David Bailiff, assistant football coach Jason Washington and members of the Owls football and women's basketball teams.
