This course is designed for K-8 teachers who are seeking
a strong understanding of the number concepts and operations
for grades K-8. The focus of the course is developing number
concepts, developing an understanding of numeration, developing
whole-number operations (meaning and basic facts), developing
fraction and decimal concepts and computation skills, understanding
ratio, proportion, and percent, developing integer and algebraic
thinking. There is an emphasis on mathematical models and
representations, estimation and symbolic reasoning, and
error analysis. Concepts are aligned with the TEKS.
Limited enrollment for non-HISD teachers.
