Another Successful Math Circle!

The latest meeting for the Rice University Math Circle was held April 14. Dr. Daniel Hast, Rice University Mathematics G. C. Evans Instructor, led the session: Introduction to redistricting and gerrymandering: How district boundaries can give an advantage to one party, and how to tell if a map is gerrymandered. Students explored how the same map can be redistricted in several ways that drastically change the representation for different groups and how to measure the relative "fairness" of a given map.
