RUSMP 2.0 - Honoring 38 years. Responding to today. Reimagining mathematics learning for tomorrow.
Honoring nearly 40 years of impact, RUSMP is inspiring the next era of math education. This year’s summit, including keynote and breakout sessions, features themes in support of this vision:

  • Mathematics Excellence for Every Learner — Practical strategies for immediate use, access, and belonging
  • Curriculum into Practice — High-Quality Instructional Materials, Bluebonnet Learning, and teacher decision-making
  • Mathematics in the Age of AI — Advancing human reasoning while embracing emerging technologies
  • Mathematics Beyond the Classroom — workforce, financial literacy, data, modeling, and real-world problems
  • Emergent Multilingual Learners — Strengthening the language of mathematics for multilingual learners
  • Leadership Pathways — Mathematics leadership across PreK-12, teachers leading the change, networking, and mentoring

  • Developing Number Sense for K-2 Teachers — Four 2-hour meetings, October-November, 2026. Tentative dates: Thursdays 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 22, Oct. 29, Nov. 5, and Nov. 12.Teachers will strengthen their Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT) in number sense. Teachers will receive 8 CPE hours. On Rice Campus (parking validations provided). Details to follow soon.

  • Geometric Reasoning for MS Teachers (VIRTUAL) — Four 2-hour meetings, October-November, 2026.Tentative dates: *Tuesdays* 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Oct. 20, Oct. 27, Nov. 3, and Nov. 10.Teachers will strengthen their Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT) in geometry. Teachers will receive 8 CPE hours. Details to follow soon.

SPRING 2027

  • Developing Algebraic Reasoning for Grades 3-5 Teachers — Teachers will strengthen their Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT) in algebraic reasoning. Teachers will receive 8 CPE hours. Dates: TBD

  • Geometric Explorations for MS Teachers — Teachers will strengthen their Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT) in geometry. Teachers will receive 8 CPE hours. Dates: TBD

  • Math Circle for Teachers — Teachers will engage in practical math activities to implement in their classroom. Teachers will receive up to 3 CPE hours. Date: TBD

  • Math Circle for Students — Middle school students will engage in interesting math problems that they don’t see in schools. Date: TBD
