The Texas Character Education Week Celebration Event has been held annually since 2019 to honor House Bill 1026, which mandates schools to teach positive character traits. This events celebrates Texas' leadership in character education and highlights the importance of character development in building thriving communities and enriching lives.
This year, Governor Greg Abbott emphasized Texas as the “State of Character” in his proclamation, and the City of Corpus Christi proudly became the first city in Texas to declare itself a “City of Character,” followed by the City of Austin.
