RUSMP highlighted at 2019 Noyce Summit

RUSMP was highlighted at the recent National Science Foundation (NSF) Summit in Washington D.C. on July 10-12, 2019. The summit showcased the work of the Rice University Robert Noyce Teaching Fellowship Program (NSF Grant No. 1556006). Representing RUSMP at the Summit were Adem Ekmekci, RUSMP Director of Research and Evaluation, and Patricia McMorris, Rice University Noyce Master Teaching Fellow and Milby High School Math Teacher and Department Chairperson. Patricia was one a select few from across the nation was invited to speak at a “Voices from the Field" Master Teacher panel where she was given the opportunity to reflect on her work as a teacher leader. Adem presented a poster titled “The Rice University Master Teaching Fellowship Program Midpoint Results: Progress in Development of Teacher Leaders in High-Need Urban Schools” which showcased the results of the program thus far, while Adem and Patricia then presented a poster: “Developing Mathematics Teacher Leaders to Meet the Needs of Urban Schools –Lessons from the Rice University Robert Noyce Master Teaching Fellowship Program” through which they shared the varied leadership experiences of the Rice University Master Teaching Fellows.
